[...] And last, but not least, another resourceful site I found was Ministry-To-Children.com this site is dedicated to serving others and provides information that helps people talk to children about Jesus. I wasn’t there for that purpose, but I did manage to find what I was looking for. The great thing about this list is that it is designed for people who really don’t know how to talk to children, so there are some very basic questions. This is not to say that I don’t know how to talk to my children, rather, the simple nature of some of the questions is going to be great for my 4 year old: Talking to Kids: 100 Questions to Start Conversations [...]

Great list! And some very creative questions which kids will love to answer.
One comment I would add is to be sensitive when asking questions that are more specific than general. For example, questions about the child's parents, or siblings who are not in the club/class. If a chlild tells mum and dad what you have been asking, they may feel it is an intrusion on their privacy.
"Where does your Dad work / what does your dad do for a job?" may be a sensitive issue for many families, especially if there is unemployment.
"Does your family go on a vacation each year?" may be embarassing for the child or parents if others are going away and they will have stay at home vacations, because of financial needs in the home.
I guess I am saying that discretion and sensitivity are needed with some areas.
if all else failsd, and you gum up, unable to think of even one thing to say or ask - give the kid a big warm smile and something like: "I am glad you came today. It's great to see you [Name of kid]. They'll love you for that!

I've found it useful to ask my group what they did during the week and is there anyone they would like us to pray for. Often they will talk about issues that are concerning them, e.g. visiting grandmother who is ill, and then we start the lesson with a prayer and can pray for grandmother, school friend who is sick, new teacher at school etc. It's a good way to reinforce that we can always talk to God when we are worried about something.
