The Bible is God’s message to people. It is also a long continued story – of how God created the world, chose a special group of people, blessed (and punished) his special people, promised to send a Savior, sent Jesus into the world, and directed Jesus’ friends to go everywhere telling about him. Most importantly, the Bible tells how every person can have a personal relationship with God.
The Bible consists of 66 books, which were written by many different people under God’s leadership. These books are divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament, with five divisions in each. Understanding what is contained in each division helps us see the progression of events in the Bible.
This set of Bible book cards will help children understand how each Bible book fits into the complete story of the Bible. Being familiar with the structure of the Bible is also an aid in locating Bible verses quickly.
Each card includes the name of the book, its numerical order in the Old or New Testament, the division in which it is located, its author (if known), a summary of what it is about, and a reference to a key verse in the book.
The cards can be used for several different classroom activities as well as serving as rewards and/or collector cards. Here are some examples of what you can do with the cards:

  • Practice putting the books in order (picture 1)
  • Sort the books according to division (picture 2)
  • Play a question and answer game about the books (picture 3)

A sheet describing how to use the cards can be printed out here.

  1. Love the book cards – wonder if the “Who and What it’s about” statement for Zechariah shouldn’t be changed from Zephaniah to Zechariah?
