Happy Blog Birthday!

It’s may seem weird to normal non-blogging people, but when you invest so much time & energy then a little celebration is important. This week our website hit the 3-year milestone. Back on 24 May 2007, I posted some lesson notes on the book of Jonah to kick the whole thing off.

At that point, I never knew what God had in his plans for this website.

After all, the weird-and-over-hyphened-domain-name is still a sore spot for me. I really wish now I had picked something more catchy, but ministry-to-children about says it all.

My wife trusted me to spend $100 to get things started. Back then I was NOT an internet genius or blogging guru. But over time I learned a few things and just stayed focused on helping others who were doing kids ministry.

Last year we marked the second year blog birthday with a post. By then I knew God was doing something special and had started taking it all much more serious. Here are a few developments in the last year.

  • 12 writers now provide a flood of new content every week
  • Over 200,000 active readers each month
  • Those readers are from over 200 different countries
  • The website has served 8.1 million page views in 3 years
  • 100% of our material is still free to all readers
  • We launched a YouTube channel, Facebook Page, forums, and kept growing the newsletter

For all of this I praise God and give him thanks. Most of what we do on this website is just attempting to follow the golden rule. Along the way God has brought in sponsors and dedicated writers that keep things growing.

What’s Next?

I’ve never been overly goal driven with this website, but I do have have a general idea of where we are headed. Here are a few things I have in mind.

On the administration side, I hope to improve website speed even as traffic patterns increase. This means paying more for web hosting, but that is why our sponsors are important.

On the content side, I want to keep building out our free resources. This will include more lesson plans, coloring pages, videos, and helpful articles. I would also like to keep improving existing content as we go. Our writers continue to amaze me with their creativity and dedication, they have multiplied the ministry of this website 10 fold.

Personally, I’ve been given several opportunities to travel and network because of the website. Some have not been announced yet, but I already have 3 events on my calender between now and the Fall.

Sing Happy Birthday

Please leave any birthday wished for the blog in our comment section – you don’t actually have to sing. I am grateful for all the encouraging emails I get every week from readers. Thanks again for reading and have a piece of cake before you go.

Congratulations Ministry to Children. Hurray!!!
I find this site the most fulfilling interms of articles for children. I have relied entirely on this blog for all my lessons with the kids. Thank you very much and may God continue to expand your boundaries.

Selamat ulang tahun kami ucapkan
Selamat panjang umur kita kan doakan
Selamat sejahtera, sehat sentosa
Selamat panjang umur dan bahagia!

That’s an Indonesian b’day song which roughly translates to:
Happy birthday to you,
we will pray for your long life…
be prosperous & always healthy
have a long life & be happy

wish you a Happy Birthday and many happy returns for the day! Pray that the Lord will bless you meet your goals for this year…

About the domain name: It speaks for it self… I think it’s very effective. I could assume what you have to offer as soon as I read the domain name… :)

Happy Birthday Tony. What you’ve done with this “little” website is amazing! I am honored to be a very small and insignificant part of it. :) Keep up the great work!
