This video was filmed during the 2011 Children’s Ministry Expo in Lexington, KY. I only gave each person about 10 seconds to think before they started talking. Video: Dancing for Joy about Jesus’ Resurrection

This amazing video is from the people at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. They wanted to show their city the joy of Christ. It looks like they did exactly that! Enjoy this video and then recommend it to your friends on Facebook.

From reading the description on YouTube, this was also a service project. Each participant donated a pair of shoes to local ministries to serve people in need. The whole project was a lead up to their Easter outreach.

I’m not sure what unchurched people were thinking, but this seems like a positive way to get others thinking. The message of the song is clearly about Jesus and the whole thing looks like a blast. It reminds me a little of a good VBS worship rally.

I’m also glad this was a Southern Baptist church doing the event. We have something of a bad reputation for old-time legalism. In my experience, Baptists are becoming more open-minded while holding firm to what the Bible really teaches.

Animated Video of the Easter Story (Kid-Friendly)

I wanted to pass along these clips from Doug Wolter posted on his blog. They are series of animated shorts designed for children’s church or Sunday school. They tell the story of Jesus death and resurrection. Despite the subject, the cartoon style animations here present the story in a child appropriate way. These clips were produced by this ministry based on the CEV translation of the book of Mark.

The Jesus Film Project has released a short animated film titled “My Last Day.” It’s the story of Christ’s crucifixion through the eyes of one of the criminals who died beside him on that day.

I wouldn’t show this to younger children. It reminds me of a miniature cartoon “Passion of the Christ.” You might use this to get the attention of mature preteens or older students. It’s definitely a powerful presentation. Click here to let me know what you think.

This video is clearly inspired by the passage in Luke 23:32-43 where one of the criminals believes in Jesus while they die together on their crosses.

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed….But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Red Riding Hood & Facebook Safety for Kids (Animated Video)

Online safety is a big concern for parents, especially with the rise of real name type social networks such as Facebook. I ran across this video clip that teaches Facebook identity safety for children. This might be a good one to e-mail to some parents around your church.

I love the way this video uses digital storytelling. With the so-called digital generation, this is a great way to get across a vital safety tip about Facebook. (HT)

In our family, we simply don’t let kids participate in Facebook. The sites terms of service require a person to be age 13 and have a valid e-mail address. Those two rules eliminates the site for our kids. Plus, reading the quality of interaction from younger users has convinced me that most kids simply don’t have the social maturity. However, I know families in our church have made different choices. Parents must educate themselves about Facebook safety issues and settings available.

For more videos from these kids, visit their official website or Facebook page. It looks like they’re performing every few weeks in churches in the Southern USA. They even have a CD available now.

When I first watched this video I imagined this is how God might hear the songs all children sing. There is something special about the voices of the young praising their Creator.

My Video Clips from the “Go Fish” Concert

Last night we took a group of 40 people to see Go Fish in concert at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. This video is a few of the highlights. Here is a schedule of upcoming concerts.

This was the first concert for most of these kids and they had a blast. They played a good mix of fun and message-type songs. Plus they were not shy about sharing the Gospel.
I pulled some strings (and made some threats) to get my family backstage. It was my little girl’s 8th birthday and it’s one she will remember.
This was a solid family ministry event. Most of the dads were able to come and we all went to dinner together before the concert.
