In this video, Cullen & Gator tell kids the first part of the Christmas story when the angels announce the birth of Jesus to Mary and Joseph. You could show this as part of an Advent Bible lesson for kids or include it for review with your Christmas Sunday School lesson. I enjoyed watching it just for new storytelling ideas that I will use in my Children’s Church lessons. Cullen does a great job interacting with the puppet “Gator” and using simple visuals.

Here is another preschool Bible song demonstrated by Cullen. “This Little Light of Mine” is one of the best known and most loved Bible songs for preschoolers. It’s based on Matthew 5:15-16 where Jesus says, “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Here is another great video from Cullen where she teaches a preschool finger plan and wise men song. It’s a simple song for young children that tells the story of the Wise Men visiting Baby Jesus.

Watch the video below where she demonstrate this story with a finger play. That just means acting the story out with just fingers instead of puppets. Finger plays are great learning activities for preschoolers because they add a physical movement to the song.

One great way to use this song is for preschool Sunday School around Christmas time. The children will loving singing about baby Jesus and the Wise men. They could even practice and perform the song and finger play to the congregation during Advent. You could also use it to supplement a baby jesus lesson in your preschool Sunday School class. Simple finger plays are always a great learning activity for young children.

Prayer is our direct connection with God. As children grow spiritually we teach them to call on their Father in Heaven. Sometimes the honesty of these prayers reminds us what Jesus meant by the faith of a child. Here is an amazing video that features the real prayers that children pray.

This is the kind of video that really encourages me in children’s ministry. It is so important for us grown-up to lead the children to know there is a God who cares about them. When children pray – God listens.

Kids Pray With Honesty

What grabs my attention in this video is the complete honesty that kids have when speaking with God. It’s so hard as a grown-up to really open up like that, even when praying. Here are a few of the children’s prayers that really caught my attention.

Give me a mom and a dad. (I’m a foster kid.)

God,
Please help me walk away from the bullies at school.
~ age 10

Please help me be smarter.
~ age 9

Will my mom get laid off?

There are many more of these children prayers that are so powerful to see. It is a reminder of how important prayer is for kids. When the whole world doesn’t make sense children need to know that they can turn to God in prayer.

My friend Cullen from Cullen’s Abc’s posted this great video on YouTube and it would be a great help in teaching kids the story of the Good Samaritan. You could be use it in Sunday School to supplement a children’s Bible lesson. Other Ways to Use this Video Bible Story

I love using video clips to supplement my children’s church lessons. If your children’s ministry has the right technology, you could show this video clip to the children as part of your lesson plan. Christian parents and homeschoolers could also use this Bible story with their children.  I especially like the way Cullen uses the simple stick figure props to tell the story. This could be a very effective teaching activity if the children also make the same Good Samaritan craft.

Here is a simple learning activity for your children’s ministry from Cullen’s abc’s. This craft project about the days of creation would be a great add-on to any Sunday School lesson about God creating the world. Plus, you can use the craft to re-tell the Bible story.

I’m always on the lookout for video clips to use in my children’s church.  These can often become great conversation starters and the kids really connect with the media format – especially when I project it 6 ft tall with our multimedia projector.

So, I was glad to find this video linked on Wayne Stocks blog. It offers a schoolhouse rock approach to apologetics for children. The video points to 300+ fulfilled prophecies to prove that Jesus was truly the Son of God. While I find the historicity of the Jesus Resurrection the most convincing apologetic, this video is excellent. It is worth checking out and talking over with the children in your ministry.

Late summer is a great time to pick up new music resources for your children’s church. Even though my church has not used Group’s VBS programs, I usually buy their worship DVD and use the songs in my ministry. So, I was excited to see one of their videos uploaded to YouTube. This makes it even easier to sample and share with kids in your church.

Yes this is last year’s video, but it makes me want to use Group VBS in 2010. To have the lyrics and song motions all on one DVD is a real help. Plus the theme is built into the song! Great work Group.

You could also use them as a fun way to review the basic facts about these Bible stories. My plan is to have these in reserve for my children’s church lesson this weekend, but they might be something to reward early arrivals in Sunday School class too.

The kids in our children’s church are really catching on to Jelly Telly. They look forward to the time after the Bible lesson when I show them video clips (if the sermon goes long). Here is the 2 Samuel song by The Fabulous Bentley Brothers. It’s a little silly, but covers the main points of the Book of 2 Samuel.

Jelly Telly is really becoming a great resource for these type of videos. They are fun for the kids and valuable background knowledge about the books of the Bible. I used this one for my children’s church lesson about King David. You can buy a high resolution version of this video for children’s church for download.
