Have a 'My Kitchen Rules' Father's Day kick off, along the lines of the TV show of the same name or like Masterchef. Invite a chef to be the MC. Select dad's in pairs to cook some simple recipe on fry-pans, such as meat patties (or pikelets). Dads to select their ingredients from a pre-bought selection. Chef will be the judge of the best cooked meat pattie. Tie it in with a message along the lines of 'Ingredients for cooking great kids' or 'How to marrinade a great wife.' Cook low cost hamburgers for people after the service. (They'll be hungry smelling the cooking during the service.)

We did a year with the theme "Boots". Approx. 100 people come to our church. We decorated the church foyer and auditorium with new boots, old boots, muddy boots, clean boots etc. We are a rural community, so we asked all the wives to bring in the men's work boots, and we lined the stage with them, all mixed up and not in pairs. Later, there was a competition to see who could find their boots first. It was hilarious watching all the dads clamber about - having a "man's look"! Later we brought in some line dancing pro's from our community and they gave a demonstration and then we chose 5 men to come and have a lesson and take part. Funny also. Our pastor's wife spoke on the man being the head of the home, the one who wears "the boots". This was impacting and very practical. The gift to all men was a pair of work socks which we bought in bulk from Rays outdoors.A successful and fun day for the men.

Our church had a trophy with name plates around the base engraved with every winners name and year he won. Winner keeps it for a year. The kids are given questionnaires after mothers day and collected the week before fathers day. Here's our questions:
1.	If you could trade dad’s for a day, who would you choose?
2.	Who would you like to go the park with?
3.	Who do you feel is the most humble and kind man?
4.	Who would you like to take a hike in the woods with?
5.	Who do you think has the closest walk with Christ?
6.	Who has a personal testimony that you love to hear?
7.	Who always has a smile?
8.	Who would like to pray with?
9.	Who always has something nice to say?
10.	Who can fix anything?
11.	Who would you like to get hugs from?
12.	Who would you like to take care of you if you were sick?
13.	Who would you like to help you with your homework?
14.	Who would you like to plant a garden with?
15.	Who would you like to sit beside in church?

In Canada, Tim Hortons Coffee is super popular. So last year, we brought in Tim Hortons Coffee for the dads in church. They loved it!

Every fathers day we send the dads somewhere overnight and add a activity that they would like then we have a program on Sunday, with pictures, speeches and gifts. Every non father donates maybe 20-30 dollars to make this possible and you can do this whether you are a big or little church because our church has maybe 50 people including kids.....God takes little and makes it much. God Bless Happy Father's Day!

Our children are giving their father's a "cookie filled with love" poem along with a cookie of course. I bought cheap Walmart cookies, blue tissue paper, white ribbon, white cupcake cups. Put two cookies per cup holder, wrapped blue tissue paper around it, tied it off with white ribbon. Printed the below poem on heart shaped piece of white paper, cut out a slightly bigger heart shape out of blue paper, glued the white heart onto the blue heart shape and then hole punched it and tied it on using the white ribbon that I used to tie the cookie and tissue with.

Cookie Filled With Love
Dad, I made this special cookie just for you.
It’s to thank you for all you do.
I added lots of sugar because you’re so sweet.
You deserve this delicious treat.
A little bit of vanilla because you add flavor to my days.
I can’t even begin to count the ways.
A teaspoon of cinnamon to spice up the dough.
because you always pick me up when I feel low.
I’ve also added some things you cannot see,
But they’re important, I’m sure you’ll agree:
A cup of love and some great big hugs
But let’s hope there aren’t any bugs!

For our oldest, youngest and one with most kids, I bought a old time glass bottle coke, moon pie and nip cheese crackers, placed them in one of the small blue gift bags with blue tissue stuffed inside and tied the carrying handle with white ribbon. I couldn't think of anything and then I realized, it has never taken a lot to please my Dad and this brought back memories of when my Grandpa would take me to the store and buy me and we would share the coke, moon pie and crackers. I know the oldest and one with most kids will enjoy, hope the youngest does too, LOL...
