Cokebury has just posted the first hint about their new curriculum theme for 2010 vacation Bible School. It is a video clip of a person in a gorilla suit watching TV and then making a grocery list. They will release more clues leading up to the reveal on July 1, 2010. Check out the website and take a guess. You can also stay up to date with Cokesbury on Twitter.

Just a note to say I find the idea of your “going green” VBS kit offensive – global warming is a hoax, and we don’t need to subject kids to that junk – I hope no church is stupid enough to use the kit

Mark,
Going green is my wording, not Cokesbury.

But since you were kind enough to comment let me assure you that concern for God’s creation is more than a political issue – it’s kinda a Bible thing.

Go read up on it here – http://www.creationcare.org/

Whether you call it “going green” or concern for God’s creation, I believe the Biblical term is really stewardship.

Mark, I agree that global warming is a hoax, and I, too, have railed against Christians who beat this drum. However, I do believe that we ought not throw the baby out with the bath water. We should take care of God’s creation. After all, we were commanded to do so (Gen. 2:15) and that was before the Fall. Use the “going green” talk to share the gospel starting with Creation and moving through the Fall and Christ’s atoning death on the Cross for our sins. Think of the opportunities to share the gospel!
