This preschool Bible lesson will help younger children see God’s glory in the world we enjoy. We’ve included several age-appropriate learning activities, but we’d always love to hear readers comments and ideas. Share it with toddlers and children age 3-5 years old in your kids church, Sunday School, or preschool ministry.

Lesson Title: Fall in Love with God’s Creation
Bible Reference: Genesis 1:31, Psalm 19:1-3, Psalm 85:12, Genesis 1:28 See more Bible verses about the beauty of nature in God’s Creation.
Target Age Group: Preschool
Learning Context: Sunday School
Target Time Frame: One Hour

Memory Verse: “God saw all that he had made and it was very good.” Genesis 1:31a
Gospel Connection: This autumn themed lesson challenges preschool aged children to consider the world that God created for them.  When God created the world, He put everything that we need in it.  We have food to eat and oxygen to breathe.  God also created the world so that it would be beautiful and would speak of His magnificence.  The beauty of the world makes people understand that the world was created by a master Creator, not just by accident.  As God’s people, it is our responsibility to work and care for the land because we have been given dominion over it.

Lesson Aims:

  1. Children will learn that everything that God creates is good.
  2. Children will learn that we have a responsibility to care for the land.
  3. Children will learn that the land gives us what we need and we should thank God for His blessings.

Love God’s Creation Preschool Bible Lesson

Introduction: Begin by asking the class which season we are in.  They should say that we are in Fall, or Autumn.  Spend a few minutes talking about Fall and what happens during Fall.  Ask them what their favorite thing about Fall is.  Tell them that during the Fall, farmers are harvesting many crops.  These crops are good because they give us good food to eat.  Tell them God created these crops so that we would have the nourishment that our bodies need.  Everything that God created is good and we should be thankful for His creation and take care of it.
Biblical Evidence: Begin by reading Genesis 1:31a to the class. “God saw all that He had made and it was very good.”  Ask the class, Think about everything that is outside in nature that God has made.  Do you think that God made a good world for us to live in?  What is your favorite thing that God created for us?  Talk about some of your favorite things that God created and allow the children to share their favorite things.  Make sure to emphasize that we are talking about things in nature that God created.
Next back up a few verses and read Genesis 1:28, “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.  Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’  Say, When God first created the world, he created two people named Adam and Eve.  They were the very first people.  God told them that because they were people they were in charge of ruling over the world and everything in it.  Since we are people, it is still our job to take care of the world.  We take care of the world that God gave us when we do things like grow gardens and plant trees.  How can you take care of the world that God gave us?
Next read Psalm 19:1-3, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.”  Say, God created the world so that it would express how wonderful He is. It is kind of like when you see a very beautiful flower and you just know that someone created that flower.  It is something that an artist would do.  God is an artist and when He created the world He made it beautiful.  Even people who do not know God will see the beautiful things that He made, like the colorful autumn leaves and think that someone had to create them.  God created the world so that we would see His wonderful creation and thank Him for it.
Lastly, read Psalm 85:12, “The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.”  Say, During Fall, farmers are beginning to harvest their crops.  These crops are food that we can enjoy, like corn and pumpkin.  God made the world not only beautiful, but useful.  The Earth feeds us, that is definitely something that we can be thankful for!  Can you name a food that God created for us that is good? Allow the children to share their favorite foods.  Emphasize that God’s creation is good and that we should be thankful that He created a beautiful world for us that is full delicious food.
Fall Scavenger Hunt: Take the class outside and see how many different things that they can find that are related to Fall.  Have them collect leaves, acorns, etc.  Remind the class that God created everything that they can see.
Fall Craft:  Have each child draw a picture of their favorite fall creation.  Label the picture, “We’re falling in Love with God’s Creation.”
Fall Painting:  Provide finger paint and paper for each child.  Have them paint with items that are related to fall instead of a paintbrush.  For example, give them an ear of corn, leaves, pumpkin seeds, or hay.  Let the kids be creative while they explore God’s creation.
Play Scarecrow Tag: To play Scarecrow tag, one person will be the Scarecrow and everyone else will be the crows.  The crows must get from one side of the playing area to the other without the scarecrow seeing them.  The first child to successfully reach the other side of the play area is the winner.  The Scarecrow must be continuously walking around the area.  The crows can only move when the scarecrow is not looking.  If the scarecrow catches a crow moving, then they are out.
Fresh Snacks:  If possible, feed the class fresh seasonal veggies for snack.  You could also teach them to shuck corn or break beans as a demonstration of caring for the world that God has given us.

Conclusion:  Close the lesson by praying with the class.  Ask God to care for each one and thank Him for the wonderful world that He has created for us.
