4 yrs ago, I was coaching youth football, and working as a child abuse administrator responsible for all child abuse investigations on the south side and south suburbs of my city. I had an accident that left me a quadripegic. Prior to my accident I hadn't seen a dr in 20 yrs. People might not believe me, but their were days when I asked God to scratch an itch on my face, and he did. What some would dismiss as mere coincidence, I know better. My doctors forecasted only the worse for me. They were amazed when I regained movement and feelng; my injury was at the c-3 level. I wasn't expected to regain much. First God gave me a peace of mind; assuring me of his comfort and contact, always. God allowed one toe to move, eventually both feet. He then allowed three fingers to move. He then allowed me to be able to slide both hands, although I could not yet raise them. I could not cough, without assistance. I could not blow my nose, without assistance. I could not go to the bathroom, not use the bathroom, I'm talking that I was incapable of bowel and bladder function without assistive devices. God restored me to the point that I now have feeling everywhere. I can lift my legs and arms, though full range of motion is limited. I now can walk very short distances. My doctor has said to me "maybe there is something to that God of yours". God has allowed me to witness to other patients in rehab. Folks out there, God is able. He can get you through anything. He can give you a peace of mind beyond comprehension. It's not just lip service or just a adage or saying, that God will never leave you or forsake you. Trust him, believe his word, read his word, pray to him. God bless anyone who is going through a fire, anyone who feels that no one cares or a situation is hopeless. I am a living testimony that God is able. God bless.

Ask God to give you opportunites right now, in your own family, neighbourhood, etc. to reach children for Christ. You do not need to have an official church appointment to do that. It need not be full-blown Bible teaching - it could simply be sharing testimony in a kid-friendly way. Talking through a Bible picture book with a sibling.

Or even more simple, playing games and relating to the generation you want to reach. lerarning what they think and how they live, learning how to communicate with them. God can give you help here.
Finally ( for now, because I'm sure I'll think of something else!) trust God to help you to observe and learn from others that you see are good at communicating with kids. P{ray for his anointing on your every contact and commit your future to him. He will bring you into his work in his way and at his time. But you can start preparing yourself for that right now.

I have been asking God to use me for a long time and boy has he given me an assignment. I am now the Sunday School leader for a small bi-lingual church that is run in someones home. We are currently praying for a building as we grow and right now we have three times more children than we do adults. Also God is changing me more and more every day so that I can become the woman that I want to be (a woman of God). My life feels balanced, I have time for God, I feel good about myself, my family life is growing stronger every day and I feel useful now that God has given me this responsibility. Thank you heavenly father for giving me hope, love, and meaning in my life.

18 months ago, two of my three sons were in a terrible wreck. A grain truck pulled out in front of them, and a 16 year old friend. The diesel tanks on the truck and the pickup exploded. The 16 year old crawled back in the burning vehicle and pulled my two sons out. The injuries were very serious and extensive. One spent 7 weeks in the burn unit; the other suffered massive head injuries and broken limbs. Today, by the grace of God and His mercy, they are both doing very well...and 7 young children have their father back to raise them! We give all the glory to God...without many miracles, we would have lost both of them.

I am expecting a "mighty act of God" because nothing with him is impossible. I am a children's Pastor who has been praying for children and believing the Promises God has given my husband and I for children. We believe we were to wait for his healing of our bodies. A prophetic word came to our congregation about barreness being broken. Out of that a wonderful thing that is happening right now is that one of my co-laborer's in the ministry has felt the Lord put on her heart to plan a 24/7 prayer time for my husband and I. We are two days into it and already He has blessed us and those praying. It is so awesome and humbling to have these folks give of there time for us.
God is sooo Good, so kind and so amazing. I believe it is done in the spiritual and we are calling it forth in the natural!

Mighty Act of God was when He took a poor sinner like me and washed me white as snow,
took a quiet scared to death young woman and gave her boldness to speak for HIM,
took a lost family and through prayer and faith saved everyone! For me and my house
we WILL serve the Lord!

I was just texting me soon to be 16yr old granddaughter and we were discussing how amazed we still are at the awesomeness of God!

I don't know where to begin! God's mightiness for today began when I was able to get out of bed. I was then able to eat the food He provided for me, talk with the wonderful husband He gave me 37 years ago, and do the work He has asked me to do. I know His mighty works won't end when I lay my head on my pillow tonight!

My husband and I were out walking and ran into 3 boys who had run from a scary family situation. Two of the boys have been active in our midweek 56 group, but one had not been with us for a time. The one we hadn't seen for a while said it was a "God thing" to run into us because they needed help. We went and talked and prayed with the mom and stayed until things were calmed down. We were thankful that God had us there at the right time to help; we were planning to walk at a different time. We also saw that God had planted a seed with the child who had been absent for so long and whose family does not attend church. He was here that next Sunday morning. How amazing God is to work in hearts even when we can't see what He's doing.

Last August, I took over the children's ministry in my church. Then in October my brother became very sick and passed away November 8th. Then I had to have foot surgery December 8th. Through all of this God just gave me a peace that everything was going to be alright. I have enjoyed preparing my lessons each Sunday and sharing them with the group. This website has been very instrumental in my preparations and I thank you for being obedient to God in maintaining the site.
God is so good and worthy of ALL our praise as we lead our children into worship each Sunday morning.

Something mighty God has done in my life?! Well, I'm pregnant. That might sound simple and it might sound like it wasn't something mighty that God did but this is my 4th pregnancy and for some reason, this time around, I'm realizing the absolute awesomeness of God! I've had a couple of ultrasounds, I've heard the baby's heartbeat and I'm one of those freaks that reads every week about new developments and growths the baby is going through and myself. Do you realize what a mighty God we serve that HE can come up with such a plan to "grow a baby" inside it's Mom and each intricate detail that must take place as time goes on to ensure a healthy baby being born! It's amazing and it is God and it is proof of His mighty, mighty hand at work!

God shows me everyday of His mighty love, mercy, grace and peace in my life as a teacher. I call them my 'God Winks'--those ordinary times that something wonderful happens that you aren't expecting, and you know God was just trying to get your attention. One of my students, a third grader, was answering a question to the class about the water analysis we did for our science class. After she answered the question correctly, she began telling the students about how God made everything to balance each other. The children were all asking questions of her and before we finished the class, the children had decided to start a food drive for one of our housing additions. As I thought about it later, I'm not sure how we got from water analysis to a food drive for our community. BUT what I do know is that God has His hand in with us and gave us the biggest 'wink' of all. God is good, all the time!

God is in our lives everyday it seems; sometimes very small ways and at other times more mighty. Like many we are facing financial insecurity and recently were struggling with payments on a 20 acre piece of property we were trying to sell. We had turned down an offer as the people wanted to turn it into a place to ride four wheelers and we knew our neighbors would not like this and the property abounds with all types of wildlife to call it home. We were walking the property later that day and decided we would pray right there. On the side of the road in front of the property we dropped to our knees and prayed to God for his direction. Within a month we had sold the property to a retired couple who love the wildlife and plan to build their home on the property so they can enjoy the animals daily. What a blessing !

Eversince I committed my life into a fulltime ministry 20 years ago, I have witnessed how the Lord blessed my life and my family. As a pastor's wife and a mother of 3 teenagers and new to the USA as ministers of a 5-year old church, still God is moving in our midst. The greatest blessing for me is having children that deliberately obey God's Word and actively participating in our church's ministries. Just last week, my 19-year old daughter started her own Teen Bible Studies (TBS) and our hearts melt in joy knowing our kids drawing closer to God. They do not only serve the Lord but all of them do great in school too and showing great examples to their friends. Just a couple of days, God blessed us by guiding us buying a car for our daughter and believe me, which is not very expensive... but ... beautiful. Isn't it God is amazing. He is worthy of all our praises.

I see how mighty God is every day as He watches over my family -- especially my 3 rambunctious boys! But, as a special gift -- He has blessed us with our 4th child - due in October. Also, our good friends are expecting their first child (within 10 days of me!) conceived naturally after years of unsuccessful fertility treatment and having given up on having their own children... God is so good!

I'm not one to shamelessly self-promote either, though contests like these are fun as long as they are kept that way. I enjoyed participating in a similar type of thing on the Awana Forums until pride set reared its ugly head with some people which "killed" it.

This is a great way to promote many blogs that may otherwise be unknown. I have seen some of the banter (initiated and promoted some of it).

I haven't voted yet, I'd like to read some of the blogs before I do, if I can only find the time :-/

Enjoy the contest and I pray (as we all do) that those who serve in children's ministries will be blessed by reading all of the blogs.

Oh thank you, kind sir, for the vote (I voted for you as well!)
Yes, I've seen the canvassing across the 'net - Twitter, blogs, all over. Great publicity for all the blogs and especially here. I hope Tony picks up some new traffic, as well as all the great blogs featured.
I know it's all done in the best of fun! And I say again, I hope some of the smaller practical blogs make it through. They are the ones that have touched me a lot.

Lin,

I've fully embraced the shameless self-promotion which is something I don't normally do. It's actually been quite fun going back and forth with some of the other bloggers, leaving comments on their sites and all.

FYI, I voted for your blog. I hope it does well!

I just wanted to say how inspired I have been by all of these stories of how much everyone loves Jesus. This is a great book, and hope whoever wins them will make good use of them! Also, I hope you all will continue to come back to these forums with your questions and advice for other people on the forums.

God Bless You All,

I have voted for my selection, but cannot bring myself to "promote" the cause of the blog Catherine and I have! Call it Scottish reticence if you will! We feel highly honoured to be listed among this elite, but there will be no campaign for us!!
We will, though, continue to link to this great site and some of the others on the list which have blessed us particularly.

I shall enjoy watching the outcome and hope that some of the smaller, less-known but deeply practical sites stay the course.

With this year's Orange Conference coming up and the new Collaborate book (which is great by the way and a must read) coming out in April, what have you found the most effective way to reach out to parents in children's ministry? What resources do you provide them to keep them up to date on what you are doing in your ministry? How do you empower parents to be a spiritual force in the lives of there kids? What practical ideas and suggestions would you offer?

Great question. I faintly remember doing these as part of a mission trip in High School. We basically brought a scaled down version of our church's VBS to a lower income area. The kids were glad to have something to do and we gave away lots of cookies.

But that was way back . .
