I'm curious is anyone has worked out a plan to deal with H1N1 at your church. It seems like the standard wellness policies cover just about everything people are suggesting. I'd love to hear your experience.

We are stepping up our disinfecting of areas. After Sunday and Wednesday night in addition to our normal cleaning we are disinfecting all table tops, door handles etc. We have hand sanitizers in each classroom that have 62% ethyl alcohol-per CDC's recommendation that we will use each time the kids enter the classroom or before snacks. They can also have the option to wash their hands. I've also read the larger churches in our area are posting hand washing instructions in all their bathrooms. For our Wed. night club I am working on a Dr. Seuss-like saying for when coughing or sneezing. At each of our Wed. night club meetings and the starting of our Sunday school year we reminded adults of our wellness policy in hopes they will keep children who are sick home. So far everyone has been open to our suggestions I think because the schools are also taking these precautions. I did run into one parent who thinks it is blown out of proportion.

Well here in South Africa, we too have many children who are coughing and sneezing. But i must say, the parents in our church, have come forward and any child who is ill - stays at home. And when they return - what a story they tell about why they weren't at Sunday School last week or the week before. Its surprising to hear how much they know about the N1H1 flu and we somehow bring that into our lesson. And we thank them for taking their friends into consideration and how much it is appreciated.

Here's a relevant link. It's the Flu statement from Jared at Sojourn Kids.
