Abingdon Press has revealed their new Vacation Bible School theme for 2012. It’s titled Get Connected and has the tagline, “No friend like Jesus.”
This program connects elements of urban culture and digital communications. Theme elements touch on social networking, profile updates, and staying connected. One line of their marketing flyer says, “Through Jesus, God created a social network that connects from creation to eternity.”
The Abingdon label VBS has typically served African-American churches, this theme will appeal to a broader audience this year. I’m looking forward to seeing more when the starter kits are released this winter.
