I didn’t actually teach this story myself, but it’s still one of my favorites…
One of my Sunday School teachers (a young, enthusiastic high-schooler) was teaching the story of Jonah and the whale. She taped paper triangle “teeth” to an umbrella along with some paper eyes to make the upper portion of a whale face and then made a lower “jaw” to go with it. She then made the whale’s mouth open and close and had the kids jump in and out to re-enact Jonah’s experience. The class performed it for the whole church and, may I add – everyone had… a whale of a time!

I follow an outline I found at http://www.calvarychapelutahvalley.com. This inspired me to teach one book per week, giving them an overview of what the book is about. I have them find the book in thier Bible and a verse that we focus on for that book. Other resources/books I use are “The Smart Guide to the Bible” by Larry Richards; “Talk Thur the Old Testament” by Kenneth Boa; and a CD “Book by Book” from “Walk thur the Bible”. We also make a notebook with clipart from ://www.phillipmartin.info/clipart/bible.htmd I pray this is helpful for you. God bless you and your children’s ministries.

I’m from Sri Lanka and I’m preparing myself to start a small Children’s group in my neighborhood (for Christian and non Christian children) and share the love of Jesus with them so that they may come to know Jesus as their Savior. Wow. Pick only one bible story that I like? Well I think it is Joshua and the walls of Jericho. I love this story and when I teach this lesson to my chuch kids they love it. They enjoy playing the parts of walking around Jericho and then blowing horns. I have varying ages in my Wednesday club and it is challenging to find ways to keep it interesting.

My favorite Bible lesson is David and Goliath. I love this because you can get the whole class involve in the lesson. I actually taught this lesson about 4 weeks ago and the kids loved it. This story has a lot of lessons within itself. I hope I win….Thanks!!!!
