A few months back, the people at Kidmo contacted me about their VBS program called God Rocks Starlight Rescue. I wanted to do an in-depth review, but just wasn’t able to block off the time. God Rocks! Starlight Rescue VBS and comes from the God Rocks! ministry folks out of Canada. It has a exciting outer-space theme to it. We specialize in media-driven resources and this VBS has the most and best media I have seen in a VBS. It seemed like something we would have done if we produced a VBS so it was a natural fit and so we have been helping God Rocks! get this distributed to churches in the USA.
The opening session has an interactive cartoon with a continuing storyline for each of the five days. The church provides a host that has a script and interacts with the cartoon. The worship music videos are very relevant sounding for kids and have a great but not distracting look to them.
One of the breakouts sessions has a 12 minute cartoon and then a lesson for the teacher to follow. Another breakout area is for learning the motions to a new worship song each day and an opportunity to have an air-band competition to it while watching the music video for it.
There are also games, crafts & snack ideas (3 of each to choose from each day) that keep the theme going the whole time.
All of the printed materials, teacher manuals, marketing, etc are on CD-Rom so they can be e-mail or printed in quantities needed. There are very few extras to buy beyond the Mega Kit. Plus there is also a Preschool version included in the kit.
It was all written and put together by children’s pastors with a large amount of VBS experience and we have gotten amazing reaction from churches about how it is complete, thought-out and easy to use.

I think this God Rocks VBS series looks great, but unfortunately, we just did a VBS series called Space Camp from Standard Publishing last year. Anyway, ROCK ON! It looks like fun.
I am sure you have picked your winner for the giveaway, but in case you have not — this is something our small congregation could use for VBS this summer. We will be cooperating with another small congregation across town to pool resources to have a successful and fun time with the kids. A rock climbing wall is in the works and this could fit right in!
I think that this is something that I would like to add for our church VBS. The kids would really like this, especially the fact that it has never been around at our VBS!
Cute cartoon format and energetic music with space themed costumes. I know our kids would grow closer to God and get a new understanding of Jesus and who He is and how He is involved in their midst always!!

Sounds like a good VBS program. I like the shining stars theme. The music seemed enjoyable for the kids. I would be interested to see more about the cartoon.
I love God Rocks….very sound. However, our outreach group is very racially diverse. It would be great if you incorporated people who didn’t all look the same in your presentations.

I love the way they have themed every “station”. It makes it easy to keep the kids interested and excited. Kids are so visual and I really like they way they are sharing the main goal of the week with the kids. I could see a lot of shining stars for God after a week with God Rocks!
This is a great way to get the children interested in the lessons of
th bible!!! this series has everything you need! it looks easy to teach and should keep the children excited and enrertained at the same time. they i also has great ideas that the children can take with them and use in everyday life….I would love to take this great curriculum with me and show it my sons sunday school

Overall “B” rating…THe “cartoon” space character were cute and should grab attention. The memory verse was a little wordy – yet good. If the singers for the Praise and Worship were closer to the age of the kids using the material, they would have a bigger impact.

this vbs lesson looks awesome. The energy, and God focused program looks like the kids would be very involved and have a lot of fun. I would very much like to win this for my church, as we could not afford to get this for our children on our own.

If the children in my Sunday School and Children’s Church class could win this…. it would be so awesome!!!! We have a very small church. I teach all the children. My 17 year old daughter helps me. She is wonderful. We don’t even have any youth that come. For the past four months I have relied on your e-mails and lessons to teach. They have been a Godsend! I recently aquired some materials pertaining to the God Rocks series and I was impressed. When I received my weekly newsletter that there was a God Rocks giveaway I had to check it out. The video was awesome !! Very ingaging from the get go. The music was very energic and simple lyrics I could imagine children going around singing over and over. Our church started in Jan of this yr and this will be our first VBS. It would be an honor to recieve such a fantastic tool to help aid in growing plus teaching our children’s ministry. I love the God Rocks video. I have shown it at the day care center where I work. This looks like it would work well as “once a week” episodes. My church is a very small one. I think Starlight Rescue VBS could work in my church setting and be a big hit. I love the feel of worship in its music and lyrics. Cudos to the people who put this together.
We have used some of the God rocks videos before in children’s church! Would love the opportunity to use this for VBS! My husband and I really stress the importance of hiding God’s word in our hearts! Thanks for all you do!

I am really impressed with this preview. I see it as working very well in the small church setting we have at Epworth UMC in Hollywood, FL. As Children’s Ministry Director & Chairperson of Christian Education, I see this as an up-to-date experience for the children of this church and an excellent “hook” to bring neighboring and other children into our church. Our youth would have a wonderful time giving of their time in helping with this endeavor. I especially liked the opportunity to offer the children nutritional snacks instead of the regular juice and cookies that are usually served. Our church would be truly blessed to have the opportunity to receive a free starter kit with God Rocks.
I have been looking for a new theme for our VBS program. I think the animation and the Space adventure will totally glue their minds to what they are learning. I enjoyed the video and would like to have seen more and to know what the lessons actually where about. Overall I think it will be awesome!
