Have you ever researched a conference, got excited about the speakers and the content, then looked at the price?
That can be disappointing. As awesome as national conferences can be, they are also limiting when it comes to taking a team of volunteers.
The Illuminate Conference is the brainchild of Kenny Conley, the Next Generation Pastor at Gateway Church in Austin, Texas. Kenny’s heartbeat is to equip volunteers and make quality training available for the people who are on the front lines of kidmin.
This past week I had the opportunity to attend the first illuminate of 2013 in Birmingham, Alabama. It was such an awesome time of learning with Sue Miller as the keynote speaker and incredible breakouts from Jonathan Cliff, Cass Brannon, Dan Scott and more.
The conference is designed for volunteers in content, but also in logistics. The conference runs on Saturday from 9-4:30, allowing volunteers to attend without missing work. The cost is only $30 which can allow children’s ministries to bring their teams or for volunteers to attend on their own.
There is something extremely energizing about worshiping in a roomful of volunteers who are passionate about reaching children.
Illuminate is coming to four more cities this year. If you live anywhere close to Austin, Nashville, Memphis or Ft. Lauderdale, check out the website to see if this conference would be a good fit for you and your team. You can also follow their fan page on Facebook.
