“That’s Impossible” Game and Object Lesson

by Tony Kummer | Games,Object Lessons | Print Print |

A few weeks back I was brainstorming a new game idea that ties together a spiritual lesson with some of the fun of March Madness. I came up with an object lesson I’m calling “The Impossible Game.” The aim is to show kids that none of us can perfectly keep Jesus’ commands. But the Gospel promises us the forgiveness of God and the practical help to live according to his teachings.

Feel free to modify the game to fit your ministry context. You could take it several different directions. Done correctly, this could  be a powerful object lesson about needing Jesus help to obey the Bible. Leave a comment below to share any suggestions for other readers. You can also watch this children’s ministry game idea directly on YouTube.

I don’t have a game to share I just wanted to thank you for all the work you do to put all this together. You are doing a wonderful job and I will be playing that game in Sunday School. What a fun way to learn about God. God Bless you and all the others that are part of this.

Absolutely awesome game. It really demonstrates that we can’t do the impossible on our own!

Great idea for a game — esp since we have a small group of kids, everyone could play

Wow, I made up a similar game without even knowing about Tony’s version. I used twist of “God’s Best” and the 3 buckets representing perfect will, permissive will and the world. The biggest bucket was world, because it would fit over my head makingit hard to see and needing prayer to remove it from my vision. I love it when GOd confirms Himself.

I just wanted to say thank you for offering your hard work to us out here in our mission field of California! We have used your prayer series and are going to be using your 3 point lesson this coming Sunday with our KidVenture class of 1-6th graders. This lesson fits perfect for what is going on at our Church this Sunday. AC Green former pro basketball player is coming to speak and I wanted to tie in a basketball themed lesson for our kids! Someone on cmconnect.org had pointed me to your site which I had been on before but not seen this lesson! So I pray that God continues to bless and use you even out here in Cali!

I love this game! I needed an activity to go along with my lesson on “the ascension” after the ressurection of Jesus. When he ascended to heaven but said he would send the Holy Spirit to be our helper! Now I can demonstrate this in a fun way, how we have a helper with us always!
