My friend and fellow blogger Wayne Stocks has launched a new website about children’s ministry. It’s called Kidmin1124 and is written specifically for part-time and non-paid children’s ministry leaders.
The “Kidmin” part is an new abbreviation for kids ministry born from the twitter hash tag #kidmin. The “1124″ comes from Proverbs 11:24 which says: “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.”
I’m excited about this new addition to the children’s ministry blogosphere. There is clearly a need for specific advice and encouragement for these volunteer leaders. It’s also cool that Wayne has a cast of supporting writers with the same passion.
The site only a few days old, but Wayne has launched with some great articles. I really enjoyed his post titled More Than “Just a Volunteer.” He hints at the weird status we often give to paid kidmins versus those who serve as volunteer leaders. He shares his struggle with the situation and how God resolved it for him:
Then, in a moment of clarity that could only have come from God, I realized/remembered something. The way we are, and what we do, is no mistake. God made us exactly the way he wants us, and he put us exactly where we are supposed to be. When I started writing and blogging, I did not do it to influence other people. I did it to record my thoughts. God prompted me to put myself out there. I didn’t know why at the time, but figured being obedient to God is a good thing and maybe there was an outside chance that out of 7 billion people on this planet that someone might find what I was writing to be useful. My job was to put it out there and let God use it however he sees fit. Whether I am a volunteer or a guru does not matter to God.
With that kind of attitude I expect great things from this new blog. I hope you will check it out and add it to your reading schedule. Great work Wayne!

Tony,
Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot. We are really excited about this new project. I’ve been stunned by the response so far. Our hope and prayer is that God can use it to be a blessing to the children’s ministry community.
I am also excited about the passionate group of people who have so graciously agreed to contribute to the site. We all have our own blogs that we write for (and, some of us write for even more), and I am honored that this group of people has agreed to add something else to their already burdensome to do lists. We are hoping that the new site will offer a unique perspective based on the diversity of our backgrounds and views combined with our shared passion for children’s ministry.
Thanks again for your kind words and writing about the new project here on Ministry-to-Children.com.
