Praise Party VBS

This post is your chance to win a VBS starter kit from Abingdon Press called “Praise Party.” Abingdon is a division of the United Methodist Publishing House and sold through Cokesbury. You should also check out the Cokesbury VBS twitter account.

The giveaway has ended, thanks to all who entered and left such great feedback!

Praise Party was created to fit the needs of churches with an African American heritage, but this curriculum could be used in a variety of ministry settings. Here is their description of this VBS program.

Praise Party is a heritage-based Christian education curriculum that will have your community celebrating the saving grace of Jesus Christ with head, heart, hands, feet, and SOUL!! Through Bible study, crafts, skits, movement, contemporary music, and well-loved hymns and songs of the Black Church, Praise Party will create passionate worship that truly makes disciples for Jesus Christ.

GREAT! The Presentation was great. Although it is African American theme per’say It is diverse because we as believers have No color barrier. We all can Worship God with our Head, Heart, Hands, feet and SOUL! Well done. I see this as a regular youth curriculum through the year.

I have been wanting to hold a praise night with the youth in my area and I believe this curriculum could very well be the one I have been looking for.

This is also our church’s VBS theme for this year. When I saw the curriculum, I knew immediately this was Living Word. I shared it with other staff members of the Youth Ministry and they agreed. Praise Party rocks and we intend to do the same. I am so excited and I can hardly wait to see the faces of our young people when we break this out!

I love the praise party theme. It would fit well with our congregation of kids from inner city. We bus in kids weekly to teach about the Word of God. I was glad to find something of our ethnic background.

This our church’s VBS theme. This video shows how interactive the theme is for the children. It will be a great benefit for us.

Sounds like an interesting curriculum that youth would enjoy. And seeing faces that look like them will only enhance the experience.

I have been teaching classes during a few bible schools at my church. This theme has been throughly explored on individual age levels. It seems very engaging and as a matter of fact, when the directors were looking for this year’s theme, this is the one they were interested in. We are limited on funds this year and a gift of the starter package would indeed be a blessing!!!!!!!!!!
May God bless you for passing on what was given to you!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! How upbeat and contemporary – praising God brings joy and love to any faith community. I have been wishing for a musical/media based program, since my talents are limited in that area.

We are a predominately white church who uses praise music of all kinds as part of our evangelism. In conjunction with the VBS, we plan to have a one night old fashioned revival. Although plans are incomplete, we hope to partner with a mission African American church and have the VBS both in our neighborhood and theirs.

What an awesome program. As a youth leader in a small congregation we hope to get maximum results from all teaching tools. I love the heart and spirit of this VBS program.
It will initiate a wonderful outreach to our community and I even feel that the Praise Party will carry over to the entire
church body.

We have looked at this resource and want very much to use it for our VBS this summer. I think the joyful, passionate presentation will appeal to children of any ethnicity. In fact, i think it builds a solid foundation for finding and keeping that ‘joy of the Lord’. I will be praying that we receive this resource! Thank you for making it available.

Praise Party!! The name says it all! This sounds exactly like what we’ve been looking for for our church!

This is my first year teaching a class at VBS. The Praise Party is an awesome package to get started with. I am sure that we will enjoy the teaching.

I am really excited about this program. I’ve been looking for a while now and haven’t be able to decide on one, with time running out I have to do something. We are a small church and I really think they will like this. Our children need to be moving! So I’m hoping I win!

This would be ideal for my VBS class…

I truly love the Praise Party VBS Starter Kit video thank God for you in being obedient to the vision God gave you to share with others and I know without a shadow of doubt that this will be transforming for my Youth Word Night ages 5-10 years old as well as for the teens and adults. This video has truly been a blessing to me to have witness something so powerful and uplifting to reach people of all ages.
May God Bless You and Keep You on Your Journey in Reaching the Nations. Love Sis.Desiree Miller

I used On The Move last year for our VBS and even the adults loved it. It was very interactive. To add some variety to VBS our youth did a praise dance to one of the songs and they loved it. It not only taught our youth and adults about the Bible but it also related the lessons to our heritage. That is something I look for in most of the teaching materials in our church. You can be a better student when you know how the material relates to your life. I looked at the clips and everything I could on the website. Since On The Move was fantastic I know Praise Party will be.

Wanda June 3, 2010 at 4:00 pm

I loved the theme. I agree with one of the comments above concerning not having any Afterican Americans in our church, but I believe this would be a good resource to use in mission work such as backyard bible studies or an urban mission summer activity. I also have to comment on the music which was on the video. I didn’t care for it that much. I would add my own music selections.
