Kids are spending more and more time playing youth sports. Some of this is good, considering other ways they could be using their time. But most people I know who work in children’s ministry are concerned. Our cultural idol of athletics has replaced more important things like family dinners. It’s also sad when the children miss out on church activities because of their sports commitments.
There is a new DVD from Sovereign Grace Ministries that deals with the greater spiritual dangers and opportunities of kids playing sports. It’s call “Don’t Waste Your Sports” and they’ve put this video clip on YouTube. I thought it might be helpful. You can also listen to the full audio of this message on their website.
