The story of Daniel in the den of lions is a great one for acting, crafting, and recalling the power of prayer. These crafts help to tell and remember Daniel and the power of God’s protection. A reversible puppet recounts the figures in the story. A lion mask is a fun and creative way to consider the threat in the story and how God rescued Daniel. Let’s get crafty!

  1. Decorate the plate with facial features and colors to look like a lion.
  2. Cut out strips of paper in “lion-like” colors such as orange and yellow.
  3. Fold the paper strips accordion-style, or curl around a marker or pencil. Glue the strips around the outer perimeter of the plate for a “mane.”
  4. Add verses and captions, and, if desired, a popsicle stick or string to make the lion more mask-like. For a usable mask, cut holes out of the eyes for visibility, as well.

Verses or Captions to Consider…

“He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders  in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.” -Daniel 6:27
