When Pigs Fly – Biblical Beasts Part 5 – See the full Sunday School Lesson on Mark 5:1-20
Admittedly, stories of demon possession don’t always seem like the best crafts. But the healing in Mark 5 reminds us of how God cleans and changes our hearts, working from the inside out. Since the demons that were exorcised were sent into a herd of pigs, there is a handy craft connection! A “Healed Heart Poster” celebrates spiritual healing. A Piggy Puppet recalls the story. Let’s get crafty!
Craft One: Healed Heart Poster
You will need:
- Band-Aids
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Glue or tape
- Scissors
- Decorative elements as desired (stickers, jewels, etc.)
- Markers or crayons
Procedure:
1. Cut a heart out of construction paper or cardstock.
2. Glue or tape the heart onto another paper in a different color.
3. Place band-aids on the heart in the shape of a cross.
4. Decorate the cross and paper with stickers, colors, or other decorations as desired.
5. Add verses and captions as desired. Hang to display and remember how Jesus heals.
Craft Two: Pig Paper Puppet
You will need:
- Paper Bags
- Crayons or markers
- Glue or tape
- Google eyes, gems, etc.
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Scissors
Procedure:

- Cut “pig parts” (ears, legs, nose, etc.) out of desired color paper (pink, gray, brown, etc.).
- Decorate the paper bag with colors and features as desired, to resemble a pig.
- Attach the pig parts with glue or tape. Draw or glue facial features.
- Attach the tail and other features as desired.
- Add verses and captions, and use the pig to remember the story of the pigs absorbing the demon possessed man’s evil spirits.
