A lot has changed in the children’s ministry world over the last ten years, especially when it comes to curriculum choices. Never before have there been so many creative options for Sunday School, kids church, or children’s ministry. Gone are they days when kids are bored by the same-old-material from the 1960s.
Just this week I was talking with my friends at Children’s Ministry Deals. They are a major new publisher that is 100% focused on digital-only, high-quality, teaching resource for ministry to children. They have been long time supporters of our free website and I’ve been so impressed to see how God is blessing their Bible curriculum publishing ministry.
In short, their “Finding Jesus 12-Week Children’s Ministry Curriculum” has been the best-selling Children’s Ministry curriculum series of 2016. It’s inspired by the Disney movie Finding Dory. It’s a creative way to use a deep sea theme to teach kids about Jesus Christ. You can download the first lesson about dolphins for free!
Of course, it’s a big claim to call anything “most popular”. But I’ve seen the download stats and can say it’s a hugely popular with many thousands of churches teaching it this Fall. The point is not who’s number one, but to recognize their good work in telling kids about Jesus.
I love the key verse from the 12 week series:
“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:39 (NIV)
Each week of the series uses an underwater animal as it’s theme. Dolphins, Crabs, Sharks, Stingrays, etc… This would be perfect for any church that just finished a water themed VBS.
I love to hear creative ideas are making an impact. It’s a new day for lesson planning for Sunday School. Because of the Internet and digital resources — you can find relevant, biblically sound, and affordable materials for teaching the kids in your church. This is a perfect example. If you have budget to buy materials, it’s worth a look.
We haven’t had a chance to test this at our church, but I’ve looked over the content and it’s exciting to think about kids learning about Jesus from this material. Among all the choices this year for your teaching ministry, this is one of the best children’s ministry curriculum available.
I’d love to hear your feedback. What popular Sunday School lessons have you tried? How have you kept the Bible teaching fresh for this new generation of kids who need to know Jesus?
