Exodus 2:1-10
Narrator: Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. The woman conceived and bore a son.
Jochebed: He’s beautiful! I have to hide him so Pharaoh’s men don’t find him.
Jochebed: He’s 3 months old and I can’t hide him any longer. I’ll cover this wicker basket with tar and pitch. I’ll put him in it and them set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.
Miriam: (to her mother) I’ll stand at a distance to find out what happens to him.
Pharaoh’s daughter: (walking by the Nile) It’s such a nice day to bathe at the Nile.
Maiden: I see a basket over there among the reeds.
Pharaoh’s daughter: Go get it and bring it to me.
Maiden: Yes, Ma’am.
Pharaoh’s daughter: (opens the basket) Oh! It’s a baby boy. He’s crying. (picks up baby to console him) This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
Miriam: (to Pharaoh’s daughter) Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?
Pharaoh’s daughter: Go ahead.
Miriam: (goes to her mother) Mother! Come!
Pharaoh’s daughter: (to Jochebed) Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.
Jochebed: Yes Ma’am. (turns around and has a big smile on her face as she cuddles her baby)
