Animated Video of Jesus Crucifixion

The Jesus Film Project has released a short animated film titled “My Last Day.” It’s the story of Christ’s crucifixion through the eyes of one of the criminals who died beside him on that day.

I wouldn’t show this to younger children. It reminds me of a miniature cartoon “Passion of the Christ.” You might use this to get the attention of mature preteens or older students. It’s definitely a powerful presentation.  Click here to let me know what you think. We’ve also posted some Easter Story videos for younger kids.

This video is clearly inspired by the passage in Luke 23:32-43 where one of the criminals believes in Jesus while they die together on their crosses.

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed….But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Thank you for sharing. Great depiction of the crucifixion events. I appreciate it.

    Dear Tony

I find it hard to watch even as an adult but then I’m more sensitive to suffering, blood and such. I pray that this video will help teens truly see what Jesus did for them.

I thought the video was amazing! I cried! I agree that it would be for older children!

This is very powerful and moving and is quite appropriate for teens and older. How do I get a copy for my teens on the reservation. If this doesn’t hit home – I doubt anything will. I have been looking for something like this for months.

This is a very good presentation for older children. The portral of what the crucifixion entailed is made alive. Thank you for your commitment to sharing God’s Word in animated form. Loved it!

Even thou this is a children’s video it was so emotional for me to watch. I am a Children’s Ministry Leader, my children range from 4 to 14. I like this for the older children but I am having a problem looking for age appropriate for my littles on Jesus’ death.

Yes DEFINATELY not for the little ones. To graphic, even makes me cringe. This would be awesome for middle schoolers I think.

Agreed on the “Not for younger kids” part. Pretty brutal even in Anime. Good reminder of what Jesus went through, though from what I’m reading, just about everyone crucified got similar treatment to Jesus just before going to the cross. Not as bad, perhaps, but similar. (Of course, I could have misunderstood that….) Well done and convicting. I couldn’t drive myself to watch all of the scenes, though I saw the same in the Passion movie without as much squirming.

Wow!!! The pain and torture Jesus and other went through…..

When I see this video I think of things like “Take up YOUR cross and follow me.” In other words, prepare to die for me. Also songs like ? “Oh the Wonderful Cross” ? A call to die a painful death if we follow him…

I count myself blessed no matter what struggles may come…
