Animated Easter Video (Kid-Friendly)

I wanted to pass along these clips from Doug Wolter posted on his blog. They are series of animated shorts designed for children’s church or Sunday school. They tell the story of Jesus death and resurrection. Despite the subject, the cartoon style animations here present the story in a child appropriate way. These clips were produced by this ministry based on the CEV translation of the book of Mark.

God is so good! This video series in an answer to prayer! I’ve had the activities planned and visioned for weeks, but have been really struggling with how to pull it all together in an easy for K-1 class kids to understand – not too deep, not “watered down”. Now I have enough time (It’s saturday before Easter 2014!) to pull it together with some great discussion questions and the activities! Thank you Tony!

I thank jesus for this wonderful ministry. Thank you Tony Kummer. It’s very useful for our sunday school. I expecting further more topics.

This would be a great tool to use, however I also do not like that there is no mention of the one criminal crying out to Jesus. But the the bigger problem is the video only says Jesus cried out, not what He cried out. “It is finished” is too important to leave off the Easter story.

I’m planning a kids program to run concurrent with our Good Friday program. These will be so much better than me telling the story.
I agree with Wbeliever7 though as BOTH criminals didn’t hurl insults. I might have to start talking at that point so kids don’t hear the wrong thing.
    Other than that—great tool.
    Thanks for sharing.

This is great! I’ll use it on Sunday for sure. It will help wrap the whole story together for the kids. My only complaint is I need to cut out the bit where it says that BOTH of the criminals next to Jesus were insulting Him since scripture tells us that one of them actually came to believe in Jesus. Other than that, very good.

In Mark, which is the Gospel he is using and says he’s using, it does say that “Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.” -Mark 15:32. It’s in Luke where we hear the story of the one criminal asking Jesus to remember him in his kingdom.
