Object Lesson about Kids Sharing the Gospel

Last week, I was thinking of a way to illustrate the power of one kid telling another about Jesus. This Bible object lesson with dominoes is what I came up with. The basic idea is told in the video below. Leave a comment to let me know what you think or to add your own ideas.

Supplies Needed: I got a simple box of dominoes at Wal-Mart for under $3. I also used masking tape and a marker to make a face on one of the dominoes.

Scripture Connection: With this object lesson you could read any of the key passages about Evangelism. Here are a few of my favorites:

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 ESV)

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8 ESV)

But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 1:7-8 ESV)

    Dear Tony,
Up until now I have relied on our Church Sunday School curriculum because they had come out with a new and exciting one with songs, games, etc… After 1 1/2 quarters I have chosen to no longer participate. I turned to another Pastor’s wife who is also my mentor for what to do, only to discover they to have decided to drop the program.
She referred me to your site and I love it. I really love the domino way of showing the kids how to reach others.
Prior to my husband and I going to the Church there were no children. At the end of last year I asked the Church to stand and believe with me and pray that we begin to see at least 10 of the many children that had come through our Church coming on a regular basis. Praise God for the last 5 weeks we have a min of 9 and a max of 12 children in our Sunday School.
I praise God for people like you that are willing to take time to put together a program to help teachers, Pastors, Churches of all denominations to reach our Children.
I have believed for a minimum of 10 and my next goal is to ask God to send as many as He wants, to the point that we move the adults to the kitchen area and move our children to the sanctuary. I am also believing God for the parents as well.
Praise God we already have children who bring other children and I look at this and I think about how the adults need to take a look at my children and follow in their footsteps. Praise God.
Thank you and your prayers for our Church will be most appreciated.
    Love in Christ always,
    Linda Hayes

I really enjoyed your video. I’m a Sunday school leader and I’m always looking for ideas to inspire the kids. I’ll use this. It’s easy, it’s fun and definitely effective! It’s something the kids will remember for the rest of their lives.

Thank you so much for sharing this. God bless you.

“Thank u”, I woke up this morning early and prayed. I always want the Lord to direct me in a nice and simple way to teach our youth-ages 12 and under how to spread the gospel to this world and praise GOD, the Lord blessed you to spread this lesson to us Sunday School Teachers to the age level that the kids will understand!
It’s so important that we teach at their age level and not lose their attention, since it’s so short :)
    Thank u! I love this!

We are going to use this tonight. We will place recipient “kids” on a tablecloth that has a world map on it. The kids will show they can reach “all the world” using domino chains branching out from a single person. Thanks for the inspiration!

A really nice way to illustrate for the children how one life can affect others….. and how the gospel can spread from just one, who can make a difference for soooo many!

Thank you so much for this video! This is EXACTLY what I need to teach my Alpha Sprouts lesson tonight on teaching the kids how to share the gospel with others. What a perfect illustration. I will return to this site to relay how the lesson went over with them tonight.

    Again — thank you!

love this! very creative – sure to get kids’ attention and they will easily understand and remember the point! could use a digital camera, print out photos of kids and have them each decorate a dominoe with their own picture – a take home reminder for them to put where they will see it every day!

it also shows that you do not always see the fruit of your evangelisum efforts. You may lead one person to Christ and later they go into missions and lead a whole village.

  20. says

You could also arrange the dominoes in a triangular pattern to show that one person reaches two then three and so forth. The affect gets multiplied over time.
