Animated Video of Jesus Crucifixion

The Jesus Film Project has released a short animated film titled “My Last Day.” It’s the story of Christ’s crucifixion through the eyes of one of the criminals who died beside him on that day. I wouldn’t show this to younger children. It reminds me of a miniature cartoon “Passion of the Christ.” You might use this to get the attention of mature preteens or older students. It’s definitely a powerful presentation.  Click here to let me know what you

My Interview with Mary Margaret (Amazing Bible Storyteller)

A few months back I posted a video clip where Mary Margaret told the story of Jonah. In that article I added a few tips for Bible storytelling we could learn from this child. Then our readers shared that same video over 1500 times on Facebook. In fact, her Internet videos have been watched over 4 million times! By any measure she is the biggest celebrity I’ve ever met. So I was excited to find myself teaching

Using Hand Movements to Help Kids Memorize Scripture

Adding simple hand motions is an easy way to help kids memorize scripture. These don’t have to be elaborate or even graceful. The key is to connect the body movement with the concept as the kids recite their bible memory verse. Here is a recent example from Deuteronomy 6:5 in our children’s church. Our Movements for Deuteronomy 6:5 You shall love (cross arms over heart) the LORD your God (point both hands to heaven) with all your heart (draw heart on chest)

Noah and the Ark (video Bible Story for Children)

This video clip is from the Jesus Storybook Bible, by far my favorite for kids. This clip tells the story of Noah and God’s great rescue. At some point they’ll publish these animations on a DVD, but for now there are only a few available online. Pay close attention to the final page of this story as the author relates the whole episode back to Jesus. I simply love the way she brings out the focus on

Funny Animal Video Clips (God's Creatures Make Me Laugh)

Deb from Artsy Mommy forwarded me this video link. I thought it would be fun to show to my own kids and talk about all the different animals God has made. Plus it has a strong element of humor so kids won’t check-out. Scroll down for my potential learning debrief questions, or click here to add your own comments. Note: There are some bathroom noises in one part of the clip (0:20 – 0:29). You might start

Gospel Presentation Using Balloons [video]

My friend and former contributor Terry Delaney sent me this video clip. It’s a man using balloons to share the gospel with a group of kids. It looks like some type of church based presentation, but it certainly captured my attention. Normally I don’t really get into the balloon thing (my little boys live to fight over them) but this storyline is worth checking out.  Watch the video below and click here to let me know what

Book of Galatians Introduction Video

I just found this awesome video clip on Sam’s blog. It would be a great introduction clip for any Sunday School lesson on Galatians. I’ll look for a way to use it in my kids church. I think the animation alone could be a good hint at some key concepts in Galatians. Some discussion questions based on this video: Who was teaching different things than Paul? What did they say people needed besides the cross? Why is

The Difference Between Kids Arts and Crafts

I’ve always wondered about the difference between arts and crafts. Often these two words are joined in one phrase but are actually different concepts. Cullen has posted a simple explanation of these two words on her YouTube channel. Basically, kids crafts are more directed by the adults and aim at a specific project outcome. The goal is for the finished craft to look like the teachers example. Children’s art projects are more kid directed and focus on

"How To Make an Easter Basket" Craft Idea

Here is another craft idea from Cullen’s Abc’s. Watch the video below for her full instructions for making an Easter basket with your children. Video: How Do You Teach the Bible to People Who Can't Read?

I just caught this video on YouTube from John Piper about Bible teaching with non-literate people groups. I think the topic has a strong connection to children’s ministry and how we relate God’s Word to younger children who haven’t learned to read yet. Dr. Piper goes into many details related to missions work, but there is an obvious connections with kids ministry. It reminded me of the importance of story telling as a mode of teaching kids.

This Little Light of Mine (Preschool Song)

Here is another preschool Bible song demonstrated by Cullen. “This Little Light of Mine” is one of the best known and most loved Bible songs for preschoolers. It’s based on Matthew 5:15-16 where Jesus says, “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good
