Peter’s Great Escape -The Battle is the Lord’s Part 5

These crafts recall the story of Peter, and his miraculous escape from prison in Acts chapter 12. This account reminds us that God can do anything, prayer is powerful, and the church is an important part of the Lord’s work, with all believers playing a part in it. A “Prayer Chain Shackles” craft can be used to remember prayer requests, and potentially to reenact the jail break. A “Stick Together and Shine Star” considers the church body and our role to shine the light of Christ in a dark world. Let’s get crafty!

Craft One: Prayer Chain Shackles

You will need:

  • Paper Bags
  • Construction paper or cardstock
  • Glue, tape, or staples
  • Scissors
  • Decorative elements as desired (Stickers, etc.)
  • Markers or crayons

Procedure:
1. Cut construction paper or cardstock into strips, with anywhere from 6-12 total.
2. On each strip, write a prayer request note (request or thanksgiving). Add decorations as desired.
3. Add verses or captions if desired (on or attached to the strips).
4. Use staples (or tape or glue, but staples recommended) to attach the strips to each other to make a chain. Use it to pray, and/or to reenact the story.

Craft Two: Stick Together Shining Star
You will need:

  • Crayons or markers
  • Glue or tape
  • Stickers or decorations
  • Construction paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Pipe cleaners or yarn (optional)

Procedure:

  1. On each popsicle stick, write a name or position of someone in the church.
  2. Glue the sticks together in the shape of a star.
  3. Add verses and captions on a separate piece of paper (option: attach as a backdrop).
  4. Add decorations as desired, to the caption and/or the star. Attach a pipe cleaner or string to hang, if preferred.

Verses or Captions to Consider…

When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”
-Acts 12:11

Christians stick together and shine the light of Christ!

No more shackles…pray for one another!

Pray for God’s church!
