Jesus Raises Lazarus of Bethany Explained for Kids
Use these Bible teaching ideas to help kids understand when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in John 11. Jesus had a very good friend named Lazarus, who lived in Bethany with his sisters, Mary and Martha. One day, Lazarus got very sick. His sisters sent a message to Jesus, but Jesus didn’t come right away.
By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had already died and been buried in a tomb for four days. Mary and Martha were very sad. Jesus felt their sadness and cried with them. Jesus then went to the tomb and asked people to roll away the stone covering the entrance. He shouted in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
And guess what? Lazarus came out of the tomb, still wrapped in burial cloths! Jesus had brought him back to life! Everyone was amazed. This miracle showed Jesus’ power over death and gave people hope in the resurrection. See the youth ministry lesson on Lazarus raised from the dead.
