Introduction Game: Love Towers
Objective: Show how love is the foundation of everything we do.
Supplies Needed:
- Plastic cups or blocks (10–15 per child or group)
Teacher Script: Let’s build a tower! But here’s the catch: Your tower will represent all the good things we do, like being kind, helpful, or praying. If I say “Love,” you must make sure it’s the base of your tower. Without love as the foundation, your tower will fall.
Guide children to build towers and then “test” them by removing the base (love). Talk about how important it is to base everything we do on love.
Bible Story
TEACHER: Today, we are talking about love—God’s kind of love. The Bible tells us what real love looks like in 1 Corinthians 13. Let’s read parts of it together and see what God says.
READ: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
God says that even if we can do amazing things—like speaking all languages or knowing everything—it doesn’t mean much if we don’t have love.
Question for Kids: What’s something you’re really good at? Imagine doing it without caring about others. How would that feel?
Connection: God cares about how we treat others more than what we can do.
READ: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Here’s how God describes love: Love is patient and kind. It’s not jealous, rude, or selfish. Love doesn’t get mad easily and forgives others. Love keeps going, no matter what.
Interactive: Ask kids to act out what kindness or patience looks like. Then talk about how we can show those kinds of love at school or home.
Connection: God loves us this way, and He wants us to love others the same way.
READ: 1 Corinthians 13:8-13
Everything else—like what we know or do—will end someday. But love will last forever! The greatest thing we can have is love.
Interactive: Have kids shout out things they think are important, like toys, grades, or friends. Remind them that love is even greater because it never ends.
Connection: God’s love for us is eternal, and it helps us love others forever.
GOSPEL CONNECTION for KIDS:
God’s love is perfect, and He showed it to us through Jesus. Jesus loved us so much He gave His life for us. When we believe in Jesus, His love changes our hearts and helps us love like Him. Do you want to share God’s love with others this week?
Discussion Questions & Prayer
TEACHER: You all did such a great job listening! Let’s talk about what we learned.
- Why is love so important?
- What are some ways you can show love at school or home this week?
- How does Jesus show us love?
Let’s pray together. Does anyone have prayer requests?
Dear God, thank You for loving us perfectly. Help us to show Your love to others this week. Thank You for sending Jesus to show us what love really looks like. Amen.
Craft Activity: Love Is…
Supplies Needed:
- Construction paper hearts
- Markers or crayons
- Glue sticks
- Pre-printed words: “Love is patient, love is kind…”
TEACHER: Today, we are making “Love Is” hearts to remind us how to love others. On each heart, write or draw one way to show love, like being kind or forgiving. Decorate your heart and keep it to remember God’s love for you.
Note for Parents:
This week in Sunday school, your child learned that love is the most important thing, based on 1 Corinthians 13. We explored how God’s love for us is patient, kind, and forgiving, and how we can show that love to others. Remind your child that Jesus showed us the greatest love by giving His life for us. His love changes our hearts and helps us love others better. Thank you for letting us partner with you in your child’s spiritual growth!
