Free Printable Christmas Book: The 12 Symbols of Christmas

Here is a printable Christmas book about the 12 Symbols of Christmas. I have taken symbols of Christmas that we see all over the place and researched the true meaning of them. Each one has a Bible Verse along with and explanation and a simple picture. This would be good for children preschool and up as well as personal family time. This can be incorporated into any lesson about Christmas as well as a stand alone story.

Here are a few ideas for using the book, if you want to extend this into a longer lesson:

  1. You can have each item in a large bag. Have children take turns taking an item out of the bag and then the corresponding page can be read along with it.
  2. You can have a picture of each item in the book. Hide these pictures around the room and have the children find the pictures before reading the book. As you read each page, have the child who found that page stand up and show their picture.
  3. You can print out this book using the Coloring Book part of your printer so that the children can color their own book as you read it to them.
  4. You can use this with the 12 days of Christmas 12/13 through 12/24. Read/Color a page a day and put up that item in your house/room after learning about it.

Thank you so much for this just wonderful website. I’ve found plenty of nice and useful ideas here so far. There isn’t that abundance of information for children ministry in my country and I was really happy to find this resource. May God bless you in your life and ministry for I know that it takes a lot of time and effort to run your family, work and church.

Cute book. Thanks. I have always heard the gifts from “The 12 Days of Christmas” totals to 365 items. So “my true love” loves every day of the year.

Interesting read and very neat tool to use with our younger kids (even the older ones like to color sometimes!). Traditionally, the “12 Days of Christmas” don’t start on December 13th and lead up TO Christmas; they start AT Christmas and run until Epiphany, December 25th through January 5th (sunset December 25th through sunset January 6th in some traditions).

Thank You so much for putting so much thought into your project. Reading the comments it seems that others are able to use your idea in so many different ways that can touch so many different young and old brothers and sisters in Christ. I am a Preschool Teacher and will take one different symbol each day and investigate it’s meaning We will look at evergreen twigs in the Science Center, read about trees, paint with twigs in the Art Center and make ornaments for our Classroom Tree. We will begin, however with your beautiful explanation of how Evergreens are always green and how they point to Heaven. I can’t wait to teach these lessons. Thank You again for the inspiration. S.T.

This is a neat idea and I would really like to use it. How do I use the coloring book part of my printer. I don’t see anything that says that.

I like this booklet and would like to use it in this year’s Sunday school Christmas party. However, I’m wondering how to put the pages together without cutting and gluing. The pages aren’t centered, and the page order as set up is awkward. I would fix it myself, but the images are not movable. Can you offer some help or advice as to how to print this in booklet form?

I read ” The 12 Symbols of Christmas Book” . It is perfect ! I was thinking of something differant for a christmas party for my sunday school class grades first through third. I will have each child pick out a symbol to make and make one for each person in the group and bring it to the party. This is a way each person will receive a beautiful gift with a copy of the book and each gift is equal.Thank you.God bless you and your family.
