Joshua and the Wall of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-20)Sunday School Crafts
These crafts help students remember (and reenact) the story of Joshua and Israelite victory over the city of Jericho. Really, it was God who won the battle, and it happened in remarkable ways. These crafts could be combined into one single project, or done separately. A “Walk with God Footprint” recalls the march around the wall and how the Lord guides our steps. An “Israelite Trumpet” considers the noisy “weapons” that God’s people used. Let’s get crafty!
Craft One: Walk with God Footprint
You will need:
- Paper plates
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Staples, glue, or tape
- String or pipe cleaner (optional)
- Scissors
- Decorative elements as desired
- Markers or crayons
Procedure:
1. Trace a foot on construction paper or cardstock.
2. Cut out the foot, and glue or tape it to another piece of paper or cardstock.
3. Add verses or captions to the foot, as well as extra decorations.
4. Add a string or pipe cleaner, and use the final product as a decoration or a caption for the trumpet.

Craft Two: “Israelite Trumpet”
You will need:
- Crayons or markers
- Glue or tape
- Stickers or decorations
- Construction paper or cardstock (include red, yellow, and green colors)
- Paper towel tube
- Scissors
Procedure:
- Decorate the tube with stickers, markers, etc.
- Cut a rectangle out of construction paper, and decorate it with stickers, verses, and captions.
- Carefully attach the paper to the tube with tape or glue.
- Use the trumpet to reenact and celebrate the story of Joshua and Jericho!

So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city. -Joshua 6:20
