The Bible story of Elijah is found in the Old Testament book of 1 Kings. Elijah was a prophet of God who lived during a time when the people of Israel were worshipping false gods. Elijah confronted the people, telling them that they needed to repent and turn back to God. Elijah then challenged the prophets of the false gods to a contest on Mount Carmel. The prophets of the false gods failed, and Elijah emerged victorious. This led to a revival among the people of Israel, and they turned back to God. However, Elijah’s success angered the queen, Jezebel, who sought to kill him. Elijah fled for his life and eventually came to Mount Horeb, where he met with God. After this encounter, Elijah was taken up into heaven in a whirlwind.
