In Matthew 8, Jesus praises the centurion for his faith. This incident is mentioned in our Jesus Heals the Sick Sunday School lesson.
The second coloring page was first used as a stick puppet. The children can color in the picture and then attach it to a popsicle stick. This is a very low budget way to act out the Bible story.
There are several Bible stories that mention the faith of a centurion. These include the following:
Matthew 8:5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
Matthew 27:54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
Luke 7:1-3 When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum. There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
