Here is a simple way to review the Fruit of the Spirit and the Works of the Flesh with kids in your ministry. All you need is some sidewalk chalk and an open area to play. This learning activity would work well with any lesson plans based on Galatians 5:22-23. Be sure to browse all our Fruit of the Spirit lessons and resources.
Directions: Draw two different areas with sidewalk chalk. One to represent Fruit of the Spirit and the other to represent Works of the Flesh. Ask the kids to move to the side according to the behaviors or attitudes you call out.
It’s important that kids not think these are simply a list of good and bad behaviors. The Fruit described in the Bible are character traits created in our hearts by the work of God’s Spirit. Recognizing the outcomes in our lives is a test to help use stay close to Jesus. Don’t let kids assume being good is all that Christianity is about. Their job is to seek a deeper relationship with Christ so his personality will come through in the way they live.

This is the first time I have been on this site and I am so excited to use some of the ideas. I am thinking of incorporating sign language into the lessons, as our youngsters are like sponges and we hope this will have a positive spin-off for our hearing impaired church members and visitors. It is so important that everyone is exposed to his love and truth.
God bless you and the work you do.
