Be Gentle! The Fruit of the Spirit Crafts Part 8
These crafts focus on gentleness and what it means for us as Christians. Understanding gentleness reminds us that it’s important to treat people and things with care, but that we can be strong even while we are gentle and soft. An “Earthquake, Wind, and Fire Wheel” celebrates the story of Elijah on Mt. Horeb, which reminds us of God’s gentleness. A “Soft and Tender Collage” includes tactile items that literally show softness. Let’s get crafty!
Craft One: Earthquake, Wind, and Fire Wheel
You will need
- Paper plates
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Staples, glue, or tape
- Balloons or noisemakers (optional)
- Scissors
- Decorative elements as desired
- Streamers/light elements
- Markers or crayons
Procedure:
1. Divide the plate into sections, designating each one as part of the experience Elijah had on Mt. Horeb.
2. Write captions and draw pictures for the different spots of the plate, showing the earthquake, wind, fire, and whisper. Add verses or captions at the top or bottom of the plate.
3. Add extra decorations, including windmakers or “flames” (candle/flashlight), if desired.
4. Hang or display the plate, or simply use it to re-tell and recall the story.
