Use these simple craft ideas when teaching kids about the Fruit of the Spirit in your Sunday School or Children’s Ministry. These crafts are designed to communicate the power and importance of kindness. As God has shown us kindness, we can pass on kindness to others, demonstrating that we care for and value them. These crafts remind kids how we can be kind. A “Petals of Positivity Plate” works as a gift of compliments for someone. A “Sprinkled with Kindness” collage is a fun way to consider methods of kindness. Let’s get crafty! 

Kindness Craft One: “Positive Petals” Card  

You will need:

  • Paper plates
  • Construction paper or cardstock
  • Staples, glue, or tape
  • Pipe Cleaners or cardboard tubes (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Decorative elements as desired
  • Markers or crayons

Procedure:
1. Cut flower petals out of construction paper or cardstock. On each one, write a compliment for the recipient of the final product.
2. Glue, tape, or staple the petals onto the paper plate. Add a center caption.
3. If desired, tape or staple the plate onto a paper towel tube “stem.”
4. Add extra decorations as desired, and captions. Give the plate to someone to show kindness. 

Kindness Craft Two: “Scooped and Sprinkled” Decoration

You will need:

  • Glue or tape
  • Crayons or markers
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Construction paper or cardstock
  • Stickers or decorative items 

Procedure: 

  1. Cut ice cream shapes (scoops, cone, or bowl) out of construction paper or cardstock. 
  2. Glue the shapes onto another cardstock or construction paper piece. 
  3. If desired, glue sprinkles or extra decorations onto the picture.
  4. Add verses or captions to the paper, indicating how to demonstrate kindness.
  5. Keep and/or hang the decoration as a reminder to be kind.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
