Thanks for sharing your concerns!

I have never seen anything even questionable in any of the MOPS publications. I am so sorry that you had that experience! Maybe they have gotten back on track since then.

I think the effectiveness of particular groups depends a lot on the leadership team steering the meetings. If there are Godly women organizing the group and praying consistently, there is going to be fruit produced - not only in the lives of the moms, but also their husbands and children.

Blessings,
Kristin

FYI, our church stopped its association with MOPS after they ran a series of bizarre articles in their magazine encouraging such practices as having the wife dress up seductively with a different colored wig and get "picked up" by her husband at a local bar. This was at the same time that their organization became far more centralized, and lost some of its focus on the local church. I think our elders were concerned that MOPS might wind up playing an authority-usurping role, similar to how WMU can sometimes "run" some smaller churches.

Not criticizing your blog post, so much as giving you a heads-up. I am pleased to read that your local group has been such a big blessing to you in your mothering and in your sanctification.
