Gripping too -- seeing the photos of children from way back when, many of whom are no longer alive, means a lot. Good points too. I like to think that whatever I'm doing now for the Lord are seeds being planted. Some things I'll see germinate and flourish in my lifetime, but if the Lord should tarry, I expect many other things to bloom after I'm gone. Our children are, of course, an excellent repository for the truth and the love of Jesus Christ. As often as I get a chance, I attempt to fill up their hearts with God's goodness, helping to equip them with what they need for their lives. Very well said, Tony. We need to be intentional about challenging our kids to reach out. I'm concerned about the "bunker mentality" that our generation often succumbs to. Benjamin Franklin said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." He was echoing Matthew's admonition, "If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it." (Matthew 16:25). Serving God calls for sacrifice. I'm praying that we won't lose sight of the fact that our kids fulfillment in life will not come from comfort, but accepting God's challenge to be involved in His mission. Excellent post!
