We chose Teacher Appreciation week to celebrate not only our Sunday School teachers but also those teachers who serve during the week with the Missionettes and Royal Rangers. We took them to dinner on that Friday, gave them a personal thank you card, and a box of chocolates.

I have picked February to be teacher appreciation month for the same reasons as Tara. However, I contact our local cultural center and this year we received 20 fully subsidized tickets to see "Cirque Shanghi Bai Xi"! All teachers and a guest of their choice get to go see this amazing production! And...it didn't cost me a thing because we are non-profit. The tickets are valued at $53.00 each so it is a wonderful opportunity. The show is 2 hours after church on a Sunday so we all go out to a local eatery before hand. I would encourage you to contact your local cultural center or theatre to see if they have subsized tickets or shows you can take advantage of. If it were not for teachers and volunteers where would we be? Send them a BIG message of thanks, just as God has sent them to us!

Thanks for posting this. Our church picked January for Teacher Appreciation because it's a slow time on our calendar. The end of the year is always so busy with the memorizations the students recite in church and our closing/graduation that we didn't want to add anything else.

I buy small gifts for the teachers and volunteers and they are presented during the church service. Their names are also printed in the bulletin. The students are asked to make them a card as well.

Tony,

We just had our appreciation luncheon yesterday. It was well attended, despite being on Memorial Day weekend.

Charlie,
Thanks for writing this post. It's very timely because we are just planning our Sunday School Graduation breakfast a few weeks out. I'm working in a little surprise teacher appreciation. Nothing major, just a small gift and some sincere words of appreciation.

Great post!
We do two things:
1. I do a ministry-wide volunteer banquet on a Tuesday night including games, paid entertainment, nice meal, give aways, awards and childcare. This has gone over very well and has helped bring unity to the Children's Ministry.
2. For Sunday school teachers, in the early summer, we line up a ton of parents to take over their classes for them and do a breakfast for them in the church. We eat and talk about how we have seen God work in kids lives. I think next year, we'll just give them the day off and let them go to their adult SS class.
