Charlie-
Thanks for writing an excellent review of my book! I wonder if I could convince you to go to Amazon and add your review on my book's site? I would appreciate it.
Blessings,
Mark

The great exodus comes from the difficulty of deprogramming people who have been told for years that the church is there to teach and entertain their children while the they can come in and avoid distraction by their children.

Because my parent's generation, 1940's, was one of the last major generations that kept families together in the church service, most in my generation, Gen X and onward, have no other model to look to except what they grew up in their whole lives.

That's demanding and takes time to digest and most aren't interested.

There is an old saying I was once told, "People know what they like, but, more importantly, they like what they know."

Jeri,

Thanks for the kind words!

Richard,

50-75%? That much? I would expect a large amount but 75% - even if after thoroughly educating your congregation - still seems like a ton...wow. It is a complete reversal of thinking, however.

I agree that it is not a good idea to try to flip an oil tanker around on a dime. It is better to progressively educate the congregation and of course it is important to have the elders on board, hopefully there are elders. But you should plan on losing at least 50%-75% of your congregation when you make the switch. It differs with each church.

Mark Fox also has a directory that he is running if you are looking for a family integrated church.
